STUDENT DISCIPLINE

School Year 2022-2023

It is vital for students to attend school with a positive attitude towards learning. Students must be prepared with supplies and homework. They must also conduct themselves in a manner that does not disrupt the classroom. In cases where students are disruptive, the following procedures are followed:

  • Teacher will speak with student privately
  • Student will be sent to talk with the guidance counselor or dean
  • Parent will be contacted
  • Parent will be asked to visit the school or pick up child
  • In-house suspension, Principal’s suspension, Superintendent’s suspension

*** Please note that the Citywide Standards of Discipline and Intervention Measures allows for the suspension of a student who has been removed from class three times for disrupting the educational process. Your child and all children have the right to learn in a supportive educational environment.
You will be receiving the Citywide Standards of Discipline and Intervention Measures along with a letter of explanation during September. The following general guidelines are worth noting:

  • Speak and act in a respectful manner
  • No gum is allowed in school
  • Fighting and inappropriate language are not acceptable
  • Follow directions and signals
  • All weapons or instruments that may be used as weapons will result in automatic suspensions
  • Dangerous and disruptive behavior will result in serious consequences that may include suspension
  • Harassment of any kind is prohibited. Harassment refers to any behavior which is not welcome, which is personally offensive, which debilitates morale, and which therefore interferes with the working or learning effectiveness of its victims and peers. This includes via the internet.
  • Sexual harassment is strictly prohibited and will lead to a Superintendent’s Suspension
  • All Principals’ suspensions will be served at P12X. Students will be responsible for all required course work during suspensions.
  • No skateboards are allowed on campus
  • Internet usage and social networking websites have become a breeding ground for disciplinary issues, especially cyber-bullying. Please remind your child that any conflict with a fellow classmate that results in on-line threats or any inappropriate behavior (even if it takes place at home) can and will result in school-wide disciplinary action (as mandated by the Chancellor’s Regulations).
  • Cell phones are prohibited in the school and will be confiscated if exhibited or used in any manner. Confiscated phones will only be returned directly to parents when it is the first offense. Parents will have to sign for the phone. Phones confiscated more than once will be sent to the Parent Coordinators’ office. Parents will have to retrieve it from the Parent Coordinator, Wendy Camarena between the hours of 10:00 AM- 1:00 PM. If the phone is confiscated a third time, the phone will not be returned until the end of the year.
