ENL - ENGLISH AS A NEW LANGUAGE

 

What is English as a New Language (ENL)?

At P12X, all students who speak more than one language participate in our English as a New Language Program, also known as ENL. The goal of our ENL program is to help students to use English to accomplish their academic, personal and social goals with the same proficiency as native speakers of English. We work toward this goal by providing instruction and practice at the student’s level in the four fundamental areas of language; Speaking/Listening, Reading, Writing, and Grammar.

How does ENL help?

The ENL teacher works closely with each student’s classroom teacher to ensure that all instruction is accessible and all context is provided.

Activities

During the spring semester, our students in the ENL program participate in a special afterschool program where they receive further support with vocabulary enrichment.
